Poster presented at Galaxy Community Conference 2026

Abstract

The Galaxy Project offers a vast and growing ecosystem of tools, workflows, and tutorials, empowering researchers to perform accessible, reproducible, and transparent data analysis. However, the sheer volume of resources can overwhelm both new and experienced users, hindering accessibility and adoption.

This poster introduces the Galaxy Communities Dock (CoDex) as a pivotal solution that bridges massive resources and communities. CoDex is a centralized, manually curated repository that aggregates community-specific tools, workflows, and tutorials. Resources are automatically updated weekly. By combining technical infrastructure with human curation, CoDex supports communities in automatically highlighting their most relevant resources, embodying both a people-centered and technical approach. The CoDex is also a key element for the Labs, user-friendly interfaces built on the Galaxy framework, which enable communities to rapidly identify and launch relevant resources on their favorite Galaxy instance without requiring programming expertise.

The poster will highlight the current state of CoDex and Labs, and how it fits in the Galaxy governance and infrastructure, with examples such as the microGalaxy Lab or the Biodiversity-genomics Lab. Additionally, it will outline ongoing and future work, particularly in the context of upcoming CoFest discussions, where the community will focus on refining and expanding these initiatives. To foster collaboration, the poster will also clearly highlight our need for contributors to the CoDex for code review or implementation of new features. This approach aims to engage the community in shaping the future of CoDex and Galaxy’s accessibility.
